As a life-long football fan, I look forward to the Super Bowl each year. Increasingly, I look less forward to the entertainment spectaculars that go along with the game. This yearıs halftime show was the breaking point for me.

My family and I attended church Sunday evening, so I videotaped the game. When we returned home, I watched the game with my 13 and 15-year-old sons. At the end of the first half, I ran the tape to the start of the second half and we began watching the game again. After hearing the headlines the day after, I am so very thankful that I did.

The stunt perpetrated by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake during the halftime show Sunday night is shocking, reprehensible, beyond explanation and, sadly, has become the norm in our downward-spiraling pop-culture society. The ante keeps being raised at these live television events. From shocking statements and more-than-revealing outfits, to Madonna and Britneyıs kiss and now the exposing of Jacksonıs breast. Where will it end? Better yet, when will it end?

The post-Super Bowl fallout seems to only surround Janet and Justinıs incident at the end of the halftime show. How about the rest of the 12-minute soiree? It started with a short film showing various celebs reciting single lines beginning with the word "choose". The film touted such lofty ideals as "Choose to Care', 'Choose to Pursue Your Dream', and 'Choose to Get Involved". But when the film ended and the camera cut to Jessica Simpson on the field, she proudly shouted "Houston, Choose to Party" and it all went down hill from there.

Janet Jackson appeared on stage singing, "come on and touch me" with her dancing posse of what looked to be sexual deviants all around her. She ended the song by grabbing her breasts. P. Diddy then came on and the first thing out of his mouth was, "Iım the definition of half man, half drugs" then goes on with a self-adulating song about how great he is. He was then joined by Nelly who repeatedly grabbed his crotch and sang, "I feel like bustin' loose, and I feel like touching you, can't nobody stop the juice, so baby tell me what's the use. It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes" The girls dancing around him then replied, "I am getting so hot, I want to take my clothes off", and then proceed to tear off their cheerleading outfits. Next came Kid Rock, who desecrated an American flag by
cutting a hole in the middle of it and wearing it draped it over his shoulders like a Clint Eastwood poncho in one of his spaghetti westerns. All the while, he was screaming out the lyrics to his song (and I use that term loosely) that included, "S all my heroes in the methadone clinics", 'got girls that can cook, girls that can clean, girls that can do anything in between" and then ends by screaming that he's "proud to be living in the USA" while two American flags were waving behind him. Was this supposed to be a moment to make us all feel proud to be Americans? It didnıt work for me. Lastly, Janet Jackson took the stage again with her dancing band of sexual deviants that consisted of men wearing leather corsets, panties, and garter belts, and women who looked like streetwalkers. During this song, one female dancer actually grabbed Jackson's right breast. I guess this was supposed to be a hint from Janetıs choreographer of what was to come. Justin Timberlake then joined her on stage and they were each dancing, singing, and touching each otherıs bottoms. During the song, Janet repeatedly ground her backside into Justinıs genitals. The fiasco then ended with the now infamous "wardrobe malfunction".

Timberlake says that it was an unfortunate accident. CBS and MTV (the producer of the halftime show) have both apologized saying that they had no idea something like this was going to happen. However, on January 28th, MTV's web site posted a story about the upcoming halftime show with a headline "Jackson's Show Promises Shocking Moments". This headline came directly from a quote from Jackson's choreographer. MTV has now taken that archived article off of their web site. I wonder why? Sadly, we have grown to expect this kind of explicit and morally-abased conduct from MTV, but not from CBS. CBS is expressing shock and dismay. I don't know why they should. When you shake hands with the devil, you will certainly get burned.

The silent majority in this country has been silent too long. We are letting the moral fiber of our great nation decay while the slime of the entertainment industry slowly wraps it's tenancies around us one event at a time, one moment at a time, one mind at a time, and one person at a time. I am sick and tired of the deplorable lifestyles these warped bottom feeders are serving up to the American public on a daily basis. They are pushing their acidic agenda upon our youth and anyone who tries to stand against them are quickly accused of being narrow-minded, self righteous, and non tolerant of other ideas and cultures. Moral abandonment and indecency is not a standard that any culture should embrace!

As the opening film segment of the halftime show expounded virtuous ideals, I will use them to end this editorial. From this point forward, I will "Choose to Speak (my) Mind", I will "Choose to Care", I will "Choose (my) Fight", I will "Choose to Get Involved", and I will "Choose to Take a Stand".
